Q1 I haven't received my pre registration email, what can I do?
A1 Some Internet Service Providers run slower than others. Whereas most emails arrive in seconds, some can take minutes or even hours. Occasionally, the email might be blocked by your Provider. It is also possible that you entered your email address incorrectly.
Q2 When I try to submit my registration form, I am told that my email address is invalid. What is the solution?
A2 This problem is usually caused by the last few characters of your email address having been cut-off in the link emailed to you. The solution is to copy the whole link in the email and paste it into the address bar of your browser. Make sure you select the entire link without any spaces before pasting it in.
Q3 When I am filling in the registration form I am unable to move down the screen as there are no scroll bars on the right hand side. Is there a way I can force scroll bars to appear on the page?
A3 This problem can be solved by moving the frame at the edge of the page with the mouse. Resizing the window should mean that the scroll bars appear, allowing you to complete the registration form.
Q4 I can sign in on the first page and my login is accepted, but when I move to another page I am again asked to login or register. How can I solve this problem ?
A4

This problem is often a result of cookies having been disabled in your browser. Changing the browser settings so that cookies are enabled should solve the problem. The procedure for enabling cookies varies between different types and versions of browsers.

Internet Explorer version 6.0 for PCs

  1. Click the Tools button on your Internet Explorer tool bar
  2. Select Internet Options from the drop-down menu
  3. When the Internet Options window opens select Privacy
  4. Move the slider to Medium and click OK.
  5. Close the browser down and re-enter www.remotebidder.com in the address bar.

Internet Explorer version 5 for PCs

  1. Click the Tools button on your Internet Explorer tool bar
  2. Select Internet Options from the drop-down menu
  3. When the Internet Options window opens select Security
  4. The slider displayed in this window will show the current security level for the zone. The default level is Medium which enables cookies to be accepted by your PC. If the level has been changed to High cookies will be disabled. To set the security level to Medium either move the slider to the centre position or click the Default Level button.

Internet Explorer version 5 for MACs

  1. Click the Edit button on your Internet Explorer tool bar
  2. Select Preferences from the drop-down menu
  3. When the Preferences window opens select cookies from the left-hand list
  4. A drop-down list will appear from which you can choose:

"Never Ask" in which case all cookies will be received and saved

    or

"Ask for Each Site" in which case you will be asked for each site whether you wish to accept or decline cookies sent from it.
  5. Choose one of these options and click OK.
  6. Close the browser down and re-enter the address of the site in the address bar.

Q5 I came into the site by clicking on a link in the Newsletter email but cannot login succesfully. What should I do?
A5

This can happen to subscribers using some "hotmail" browsers. If you are unable to login to the site when visiting it from one of our emails please try the following:

  1. Click the Tools button on your Internet Explorer tool bar
  2. Select Internet Options from the drop-down menu
  3. When the Internet Options window opens select Privacy
  4. Click the Edit button in the Web Sites section, the Per Site Privacy Actions window will open
  5. Enter the address of the site in the Address of Web site box and click the Allow button, then click OK.
  6. When you are returned to the Privacy page click OK again
  7. Your browser should now allow you to login to the site when entering from an email.
Q6 When my emails open the pictures have been replaced with boxes with red crosses in them, why is this happening?
A6

This can happen if your email software is set to block the downloading of pictures (for example, the default setting of MS OUTLOOK 2003 is to block pictures). To change the settings to allow you to view the pictures in your email do the following:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. Click the Security tab.
  3. Under Download Pictures, click Change Automatic Download Settings.
  4. Clear (uncheck) the Don't download pictures or other content automatically in HTML e-mail check box.

Q7 I have a hotmail account and have not been receiving my Newsletter, what has happened to them?
A7

The emails may have been delivered to your "Junk Email" folder. To prevent this happening in future, select the required messages by using the checkboxes and then clicking the "Not Junk" button.

If the emails are not in your "Junk Email" folder try the following:
  1. Click on Options.
  2. Go to Mail Options.
  3. Click on Junk E-Mail Protection.
  4. Click on Safe List.
  5. Enter "RemoteBidder@i-bidder.com" in the address box.
  6. Click the Add button.
  7. Enter "RemoteBidder@i-bidder.com".
  8. Click the Add button.
This will ensure that messages from these addresses will not be treated as junk in future.
Q8 I have Zone Alarm Pro installed and am having trouble logging in, what should I do ?
A8

This could be due to the cookie settings within Zone Alarm Pro overriding the cookie settings within your browser.

  1. Click the Privacy left hand menu option in Zone Alarm Pro
  2. Choose the Site List tab from the options at the top
  3. Scroll down and find the entry for remotebidder.i-bidder.com
  4. Make sure that the entries for Cookie Control, Web bugs and Private Header all have a green tick against them.
  5. If any do not, right click the Edited pencil icon, choose Options and uncheck the relevant check boxes.
  6. Click OK.
Q9 I click on the Go To Live Auction button and see the message "Requires Flash v.9.0"
Live Bidder requires Flash Player v.9.0. If Flash Player is not installed or you have an old version, this message will appear when you open the live bidder window. Click the Get Flash link and follow the instructions on the Adobe website. Flash v.9.0 is FREE and the installation process is simple and quick. Once Flash Player is installed, close the live bidder window and click the Go to Auction button again.

Get Flash Player

Q10 I have installed the current version of Flash Player on my Mac but continue to be shown the message "Requires Flash 9"
A10 Some Macs do not uninstall existing older versions of Flash Player when a new one is installed. These must be removed before the Live Bidder can be used. Due to recent enhancements to the Adobe Flash Player installers, you can now remove the player only by using the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller. To remove Flash Player, simply download and run the appropriate uninstaller for your system by clicking the link below.

Get Flash Uninstaller
Q11 When the Live Bidder opens I get a message saying it cannot connect to the auction
If your Live Bidder loses connection to the internet the "Connection to auction lost" warning window will appear. If this happens check that you are connected to the internet and then reload the application by refreshing the window (Windows Internet Explorer and Firefox: F5, Mac Safari : Apple + r).

If this message appears when you first open the Live Bidder, and you are connected to the internet, it may be that you have a firewall that is preventing you connecting to the auction. If this is the case, you need to open port 8013 on your firewall. Please note that you may also need to open port 1935 in order to listen to the auction.
